Amitabh Bachchan, the famous Indian actor, used his official X (formerly Twitter) account to draw attention to a viral video that appears to feature actress Rashmika Mandanna.
This video is a deepfake, created using artificial intelligence, and it’s been widely shared on the internet. The video shows Rashmika in a false and misleading way, aiming to harm her reputation in society. Amitabh Bachchan shared the video, calling for legal action, and stated, “Yes, this is a strong case for legal action.”
Amitabh Bachchan‘s original tweet emphasized how realistic the deepfake video is and how it could easily deceive people into thinking it’s real. The tweet also highlighted the need for a legal framework to prevent such harmful activities on the internet, as they can damage a person’s reputation and manipulate those who see it.
The video initially belonged to a British-Indian Instagram user named Zara Patel, who posted it on October 9, 2023. While the deepfake video may seem convincing, if you pay close attention at the beginning, you can see that it’s not actually Rashmika.
Rashmika Mandanna made her Hindi debut in a movie alongside Amitabh Bachchan. They had previously worked together in the film “Goodbye,” a family comedy-drama directed by Vikas Bahl. In the movie, they portrayed the roles of a father and daughter.
The film revolves around a dysfunctional Indian family returning to their roots to reunite with their father after their mother’s passing. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the movie didn’t perform well at the box office, marking Rashmika’s Hindi debut.
