Cox was approached by Disney to play Governor Weatherby Swann in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but he turned it down. He found the role uninteresting and didn’t want to work with Johnny Depp.
He described the role of Governor Swann as not very fulfilling, and then he shared his thoughts on Johnny Depp’s acting. Cox believed that Depp’s performances, including his famous role in Edward Scissorhands, relied more on his unique appearance than his acting skills.
