After the Netflix show Squid Game became extremely popular, the creators made a live-action version called Squid Game: The Challenge for everyone to play. It’s a follow-up to the viral South Korean series from 2021. Unlike what many people expected, this reality series has 456 real contestants playing kids’ games for a big cash prize of $4.56 million.
The first five episodes of Squid Game
The Challenge came out on November 22. The rest of the episodes will be released in three parts over three weeks on Netflix. Episode 6 is set to be released on November 29, and the last episode, Episode 10, will be out on December 6.
Unlike the original Squid Game, there’s no creepy rotating doll eliminating players. Instead, contestants wear tracking devices, and if they move, they get eliminated by an exploding dye-pack canister. By the end of the fifth episode, 393 out of 456 players have been eliminated, leaving 63 still in the game.
The cash prize for Squid Game
The Challenge is a huge $4.56 million. There’s also a giant piggy bank that starts empty, and $10,000 gets added for each eliminated player. The final amount isn’t confirmed yet, but it’s likely that the last $10,000 will go to the winner among the 456 players.
