Apple supplier Foxconn plans to increase its workforce and investment in India. They want to double the number of employees and the amount of money they invest in India by next year. Foxconn is a big company from Taiwan that makes electronics for many companies. They are doing this because they want to make more things in India instead of China.
The person who represents Foxconn in India, named V Lee, said this on LinkedIn. He posted this message to celebrate the 73rd birthday of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. He said that Foxconn wants to make its business in India twice as big and also invest more money there. But he didn’t give all the details.
Foxconn already has a factory in India where they make iPhones. This factory is in the state of Tamil Nadu, and it employs 40,000 people.
Back in August, the state of Karnataka said Foxconn’s gonna throw in $600 million for two projects in their state. These projects are all about making parts for iPhones and stuff for making computer chips.
Now, the Chairman of Foxconn, Liu Young-way, talked about this in a meeting where they chatted about how much cash the company pulled in. He said he spots a ton of chances in India, and they’re just getting started with the investments. He’s thinking they might chuck in several billion dollars into India down the road.
