Pokemon, also known as pocket monsters, is a franchise that was developed by Santoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori in 1995. The franchise revolves around a fantasy world where humans coexist with powerful creatures called pokemon. These creatures come in various sizes, shapes, and have the ability to evolve. What started as a series of video games quickly expanded to other forms of media.
1. Mewtwo
Mewtwo, created by the evil team rocket, is considered one of the most powerful and strongest creatures in the world of pokemon. It is a clone of the ancestor Mew, with some mutated humanoid features added to its feline characteristics. Mewtwo’s body is purple in color, with three fingers on each hand, and it emits a mild purple aura when it reaches its full power. This legendary pokemon later evolves into two even stronger versions known as Mewtwo X and Mewtwo Y.
2. Rayquaza
Rayquaza, a flying dragon-type Pokemon, made its debut as a mega evolution in generation 3. Known as the “sky-high pokemon,” Rayquaza is believed to have lived for millions of years. In its regular form, Rayquaza resembles a long green snake-like creature with yellow eyes and a pink-lined mouth. When it mega evolves, it gains a delta-shaped jawline and a long, streamlined body, showcasing increased aggression, strength, and power. One of Rayquaza’s intriguing abilities is its power to float and control speed, direction, and levitation.
3. Lugia
Lugia, a legendary pokemon, is known for its immense size and ethereal appearance. The body of Lugia is adorned with silver-white feathers on its dorsal side, while its belly is covered in blue feathers. When flying, Lugia’s 8-10 fins stand erect on its back, but they settle flat when in water or on land. These fins serve as navigational aids in the air and reduce surface resistance in the water. Lugia possesses two strong legs with three toes on each foot, as well as two wings with large, beautiful feathers. Its eyes are concealed by two blue appendages, and its long tail ends with two spikes of equal size.
4. Pikachu
Pikachu, with its adorable appearance and powerful abilities, has become the face of the Pokemon franchise. This small, yellow pokemon possesses electrifying powers that make it a formidable force in battles. Pikachu is renowned for its unwavering loyalty to its owner, Ash, never leaving his side in any situation. While Ash possesses many strong pokemon, Pikachu holds a special place as the most important companion. Ash received Pikachu as his first pokemon from Professor Oak’s laboratory.
5. Zekrom
Zekrom, a black pokemon with a draconian and humanoid appearance, possesses unique floating, mammalian, and dragon-like features. As one-third of the Tao Trio, alongside Kyurem and Reshiram, Zekrom is often referred to as the “pokemon of ideals.” This powerful pokemon excels both in attacking and defending, making it a formidable force in battles. Zekrom is particularly known for its impressive electric moves, showcasing its mastery over this element.
6. Ho-oh
Ho-oh, a legendary pokemon, draws inspiration from the phoenix, a mythical creature associated with fire and rebirth in various cultures. The phoenix symbolizes longevity, restoration, and death, aligning with Ho-oh’s themes and beliefs. Similar to the phoenix, Ho-oh possesses the ability to be reborn from its ashes, showcasing the concept of reincarnation. In a display of its power, Ho-oh resurrected Raikou, Entei, and Suicune after their demise in the burned tower of Ecruteak City.
7. Palkiav
Palkia, a massive water pokemon, possesses a bipedal form with distinct draconian characteristics. The majority of its body is a light pink-grey-white color, highlighted by purple linear sections. Featuring sharp blades, Palkia’s arms and shoulders serve as formidable weapons, each adorned with five narrow nails. A round plate on its shoulder showcases a large pearl, utilized for defensive purposes during battles.
8. Giratina
Giratina, a colossal, dragon-like pokemon, possesses ghostly characteristics reminiscent of a sauropod. Its body showcases a striking combination of black, gold, grey, and red colors. With six legs and rib-like projections coated in gold, Giratina also boasts magnificent gold horns on top of its head. The ventral part of its neck displays five red stripes and six black stripes, extending to its back and legs. Giratina’s altered form features black wings adorned with red spikes known as Girasol.
9. Dialga
Dialga, one of the four principal gods, holds the title of the God of Time, Future, and Change. With four legs adorned with blue appendages featuring diamond-like studs on steel plating, Dialga shares a sibling bond with Giratina and is the twin brother of Palkia, all being offspring of Arceus. Combining features of both a dragon and a horse, Dialga’s chest and back are covered in blue and grey metallic scales. The pokemon possesses two horns on its head, fangs beside its mouth, a small tail, and four legs, resembling a dinosaur-like creature.
10. Kyurem
Kyurem, a hunchbacked pokemon, is covered in a layer of ice, giving it a frigid appearance. With small arms and sturdy legs, Kyurem also possesses a chipped horn and torn wings. These wings, coated in ice, are connected to blades located on the back of its shoulders. Notably, Kyurem has two additional forms, which allow it to merge with Reshiram and Zekrom.
